Inspired by her children, Alison Potter designs and prints t-shirts and sweatshirts for mums and their children, individually screen printing each item here in Derbyshire. All of her products are eco-friendly, using organic cotton and sustainable practices - like water based inks and more viable packaging and less wasteful processes.
The handmade touch is something that stands out in all of Alison’s designs. Having the design ideas come straight from the mind of a mummy gives all of the Livy and Tom pieces an extra special spark that you won’t find on the high street.
Alison is just getting started with the university's incubation programme and is open to all the opportunities that come her way.
Banks Mill co-ordinator, Karen Holland says: “We’re pleased to welcome Alison into the Banks Mill community, and through this Alison has kindly volunteered to help out on our events committee. I’m looking forward to Alison’s involvement and welcome her expertise to help shape our future events such as our Open Studios in November.”
“Though in the early phases of her business, Alison has hopes to expand her product line and boost sales whilst remaining true to her business ethics of establishing a brand for herself, as a legacy for her family, and while preserving and protecting our planet. This is the kind of ambition that inspires others, and we can’t wait to see her business blossom!”
With previous expertise in marketing and category management in a variety of sectors, Alison is well equipped with the key skills to allow her to build her brand from the ground up. Banks Mill provides a wide range of business support which our new business owner plans to take full use of in order to help her build her business and expand her reach to potential customers and we couldn’t be happier to be of aid in such an exciting venture.
Alison comments: “I am enjoying being part of the Banks Mill creative community and take inspiration from the new networks I am forming,” this demonstrates how the friendly atmosphere of like-minded creatives can positively impact one another, even after only a short time. Particularly with other graphic and clothing designers based at Banks Mill there is no doubt that Alison is in the right place; there is plenty of opportunity for everybody to share experience and build real networks and friendships.
