Current Banks Mill tenant and University of Derby student Amy Vallance is in good company after securing a slice of the City Council's £250,000 Vibrancy Fund.
Having seen a call out from Derby City Council, Amy applied for a share of the grant which aims to deliver a project to increase the vibrancy of the City. Amy was among 10 businesses to be awarded funding along with Anvil Gallery, Artcore, Baby People, Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), Cubo, Deda, Derby Theatre, Marketing Derby and Quad.
Amy said: “I’m so excited to be a part of making our city a more vibrant and exciting place to visit through colour interactivity. With this opportunity it will give me the chance to further my creative ideas and show visitors of Derby that our city is the new place to visit for art and culture.”
Amy is certainly on a winning streak after recently moving into Banks Mill Studios having won it's student residency competition. The competition awarded five students the opportunity to free studio space for a year to help them develop their artistic practices and explore self employment whilst still studying at the University of Derby. Amy was also successful in receiving funding last year through Derby LIve to install a piece of public art outside the Silk Mill in Derby.
