Community Hub Workshops with Maria Terry

Wed, 24/04/2024 - 09:15

Maria will be running a series of 6 workshops at Artcore's Community Hub between Sat 20th April - Sat 25th May.

The workshops are free visual art workshops that will be held in the heart of the community for children and young people aged 8 to 15 years and will focus on how we are connected to the environment that surrounds us. Participants will explore issues such as conservation, nature and the environment as well as developing skills in collaboration, creativity and critical thinking. The workshops will take place at the Artcore Community Hub in Normanton and will explore the history of the surrounding area. Did you know that Arboretum Park was the first public park in Britain? Or that it was used as a model for New York’s Central Park?
This project is funded by BBC Children In Need and will give children the opportunity to experiment with everything from drawing, model making, photography, printing, creative writing, and more.
At the end of the year there will be a final exhibition of the work that has been created during the project.

Artcore are also promoting another series of workshops starting on a Tuesday eve (term time only) for 10 – 15 years.
