Where Flowers Bloom by Pandora Johnson reflects a journey of reconnection with creativity. This exhibition was initially scheduled during 2019. Throughout the subsequent two years of uncertainty, the world developed a collective re-interpretation of what 'normalcy' is.
In my own solitary experience as an artist working through lockdown, I found my fundamental need to create dwindling. I pursued other hobbies, postponed plans and explored alternate normalities. My relationship with my own creativity morphed and for extended periods of time I simply didn't feel the urge to draw anymore.
"Normality is a paved road: It's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it." - Vincent van Gogh
Many of the prints in this exhibition lay dormant as sketches for almost three years. During this time I was given the opportunity to pause, reflect and reconnect.
"Where flowers bloom... so does hope."
